POPCORN SUTTON MOONSHINER T-SHIRT

An American Icon t-shirt available in black cotton.

'Jesus Turned Water Into Wine, I Turned It Into Likker.'

The Popcorn Sutton Moonshiner T-Shirt celebrates the legendary American Appalachian moonshiner and bootlegger from Maggie Valley, North Carolina.

Never straying far from his rural roots in Maggie Valley, Marvin 'Popcorn' Sutton found a certain degree of fame thanks to his appearance in a number of documentaries featuring the lives of mountain men and hillbilly folk. Sutton also self published an autobiography and guide to moonshine production called Me and My Likker, reviewed by no less than the New York Times who described it as "a rambling, obscene, and often hilarious account of his life in the trade".

Despite countless run ins with the law, Sutton had managed to avoid a prison sentence, that was until 2008 when he was convicted for illegally distilling spirits and firearm possession and was sentenced to 18 months jail time. Sutton was discovered by his wife in his green Ford Fairmont with the engine still running, an apparent suicide coming just days before his prison sentence was due to begin.
