'So... Take Your Time... And Tell Me... Is It Safe?'

Inspired by the film that launched a thousand dental nightmares, the Marathon Man T-Shirt from Hellwood commemorates the 1976 John Schlesinger movie starring Dustin Hoffman and Laurence Olivier.

Marathon Man (1976) is a thriller film directed by John Schlesinger and starring Dustin Hoffman, Laurence Olivier, Roy Scheider, William Devane, and Marthe Keller.

The film follows Thomas "Babe" Levy (Hoffman), a Columbia University graduate student and long-distance runner who becomes embroiled in a plot by Nazi war criminal Dr. Christian Szell (Olivier) to retrieve stolen diamonds.

Babe's brother, Henry "Doc" Levy (Scheider), is a government agent working for a secret agency headed by Peter Janeway (Devane). Doc is tracking Szell, who is believed to be hiding in New York City.

When Doc is murdered, Babe is left to deal with the fallout. He is pursued by Szell's henchmen, who believe that he knows where the diamonds are hidden. Babe's girlfriend, Elsa Opel (Keller), is also implicated in the plot, and Babe is forced to question whether he can trust her.

Babe eventually learns that Szell has hidden the diamonds in a safe deposit box at a New York bank. He also learns that Szell is a sadistic torturer who enjoys inflicting pain on his victims.

Babe confronts Szell in a tense showdown, during which he is subjected to Szell's infamous "Is it safe?" torture scene. Babe eventually manages to escape and expose Szell for who he is.

Marathon Man is a suspenseful and psychologically thrilling film that explores the themes of good versus evil, torture, and redemption. It is also a cautionary tale about the dangers of extremism and the importance of fighting for what is right.

The film was a critical and commercial success, and it remains a classic thriller film to this day.
