About the Midnight Movies & Underground Cinema collection
Some films were never destined for respectable cinema screens. Others found their true audience long after their original release, in underground film clubs, independent theatres and the legendary midnight screenings that transformed obscure curiosities into enduring cult classics.
The Hellwood Outfitters Midnight Movies & Underground Cinema collection celebrates the filmmakers, provocateurs and cinematic outsiders who challenged conventional taste. From Alejandro Jodorowsky's surreal Western El Topo and the nightmarish visions of Santa Sangre to the glorious eccentricities of Plan 9 from Outer Space and Manos: The Hands of Fate, these are films that refused to behave.
Explore the experimental worlds of Andy Warhol and Kenneth Anger, the confrontational spirit of American underground cinema and the strange cultural territory where art, exploitation and obsession collide.
Our midnight movie and underground cinema T-shirts pay tribute to the remarkable films that found devoted audiences outside the Hollywood mainstream.
For those who know that the strangest films often leave the deepest impression.
