New Releases This Week (June 14th)
Weekly updates feel like they have fallen somewhat by the wayside these last couple of months, but I will try harder, I will, I will.
For this week... we have the rather magnificent Mark Heap in his role as the obsessive neighbour Jim in Friday Night Dinner. A thoroughly modern sitcom that manages to hit all the right notes. I've even forgiven them the completely unnecessary killing off of Wilson, the German Shepherd.
We also have a brand new Ted Bundy inspired t-shirt. It seems that you can't get enough of the old serial killers merchandise as this one was in response to a request for 'more Bundy t-shirts please.' I try never to disappoint.
Michael Caine makes his umpteenth appearance here at Hellwood as the iconic Harry Palmer in the Len Deighton espionage thriller The Ipcress File. Intended as a dark, gritty, noir feeling alternative to the Bond movies, I think in this case they certainly succeeded.
And finally, how can I not give my little nod to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the New World Order we have found ourselves willingly acceding to, not to mention acknowledging the disturbing prescience of those Mitchell and Webb boys. Remain Indoors, and Don't Mention The Event!
